This blog contains a selection of art reviews, but also interviews and columns written in Swedish by art historian Camilla Granbacka. The texts have been published in Hufvudstadsbladet, but also in Dagens Nyheter, konsten.net, KUNSTforum, Konstperspektiv, Akvarellen, Ny tid, Taide&Design, Österbottens tidning, Östnyland etc. from 2010 to today.

Camilla Granbacka is a Finnish art historian specialized in contemporary art and modernism. She works today as an art critic mostly for Hufvudstadsbladet and also for Dagens Nyheter and konsten.net. Granbacka has been writing regularly since 2005. Granbacka received the prestigious E.J.Vehmas award for art critics, from The Finnish Cultural Foundation in 2019.

She has written essays and texts for several publications, for example an essay on Heidi Lampenius (Pro Artibus, 2019) and Carolus Enckell (Sara Hildén Art Museum, 2016). Camilla Granbacka has also written in the Collection Publication and Catalogue of Signe and Gyllenberg Foundation’s Art Collection (2017).

Granbacka has written a monography on the artist and art critic Sigrid Schauman (1877-1979), in Finnish; Camilla Granbacka, Taide ja tunteet, Sigrid Schaumanin elämä, 240 pages, Parvs. The Swedish version Sigrid Schauman – Med penna och palett (Svenska folkskolans vänner) was published in 2018. Granbacka was the curator for the Sigrid Schauman-exhibition Sigrid Schauman – Art as an Expression of Emotions at Villa Gyllenberg in 2019. In the exhibition she chose to emphasize both on the artist role and the critic.

Granbacka has also written a book about the Finnish modernist painter Stig Fredriksson (2013). Granbacka also worked as the curator for the Stig Fredriksson – Jacob Dahlgren-exhibition Raitoja ja väripalloja at Kerava art museum in 2014-15. At the moment Granbacka is writing a book and curating a show about the modernist painter Gösta Diehl (1899–1964).
